COVID-19 UPDATE

Like most of the world, the South Plains Nativity has been impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. In lieu of the traditional South Plains Nativity experience, the Lubbock Texas stakes of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will donate the majority of our budget to nonprofit organizations in the Lubbock, Clovis, and Hobbs communities. Our donations will help feed the hungry, care for the homeless, and protect the vulnerable. In an effort to support those communities, we are making donations to nonprofit organizations in Clovis and Hobbs, NM as well as Lubbock, TX. We encourage you to join with us in supporting our community and sharing the love of our Savior Jesus Christ, whose birth we remember this Christmas season by clicking on the links below:
1. Hartley House (Clovis, NM)

Hartley House has served domestic violence victims and their families for more than 40 years. Women, men, and children can stay at the shelter for up to 90 days and receive assistance in finding housing, getting connected with necessary services, and moving forward in life. Hartley House also provides support services for survivors, their families, and offers intervention programs for batterers who want to stop.
2. Weekend Hunger Initiative (Hobbs, NM)

Weekend Hunger Initiative provides food for children in Hobbs ISD who need it. Students receive bags of food to take home at their school each week. Currently, WHI is feeding over 1,000 students, and not only on the weekends with many children learning from home for now. This year they are short 500 cases of milk to get through the schoolyear, a cost of nearly $7,000.
3. LPD Homeless Outreach Team (Lubbock, TX)
In operation for five years, the Lubbock Police Department Homeless Outreach Team provides support to homeless individuals by referring them to services they need like housing, clothing, and healthcare resources. The team also sponsors a program called Going Home which helps homeless individuals connect with family members, either locally or nationally, who agree to house them. Going Home provides bus fare for people to relocate and live with family members wherever they are.

CELEBRATE THE BIRTH OF THE SAVIOR OF THE WORLD

This Christmas season, come celebrate the birth of the Savior of all mankind at the South Plains Nativity. Join us for a series of art exhibits, musical performances, crafts and dress up for kids, and special presentations heralding the birth and life of Jesus Christ. The South Plains Nativity is free and open to the public daily, however the 2020 South Plains Nativity has been cancelled due to COVID-19. Check back late 2021 to be a part of the 13th Annual South Plains Nativity. All faiths, ages, families, and walks of life are invited to attend. The event will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints chapel located at 7014 Frankford Ave. in Lubbock, Texas.

CONTRIBUTE

The South Plains Nativity would not be entering its thirteenth year this Christmas season if it were not for the generous support of the Lubbock community. Contributions of nativities and works of art are what bring the life and spirit to the exhibit every year. These nativities and art are loaned to the exhibit for a brief time and handled with great care.
